Strong rumors are that it's for sale. Who should the new owner be and why? Lab, rad, CPR, etc. - where does it fit?

I wouldn't be surprised if they simply break up hospital systems and sell certain parts to various suitors- and perhaps keep some products (lab?). I bet we hear some sort of big announcement from Misys about re-alignments within the next couple of weeks. Look for Misys to take any extra money and re-invest in a product(s) that is leading edge for the ambulatory world.

Someone who just wants to buy it cheap and milk the cash flow until it dies. Probably somebody other than a vendor, like a consulting company or other service provider.

If their lab, rad, and medical record customers were smart, they'd buy it. I fear McKinterface will buy them. A dark horse will be CSC. Once they acquire iSoft, they will need a lab and rad system to make an integrated package. If this happens, the medical record will be sold-off.
NYC's HHC should buy it! We are Misys's biggest customer- several of us in the corporation have been pushing for this for a while- buy CPR and bring development, etc., in house, like the VA. Unfortunately, little support from the top.

I'd appreciate some comments on how this sort of thing usually plays out. On the one hand, announcing the intent to sell (without having a buyer) will stall any existing sales prospects. On the other hand, responding to buyer inquiries with "it's not for sale" (i.e., denying the rumor) would seem to shrink the number of suitors bidding for the assets. So, if the rumor is true, but Misys denies it, how do buyers get into the mix?

Former Misys gal here. We have believed, in the past few months, that HSS was actually going to find another vendor. Rumblings of Eclipsys...like alot of the hospitals in NYC's private sector are running.
Anyway, what is the Misys NYC office really doing for you that HSS can't do themselves? The Tobacco/Asthma and Behavioral Health modules required little to no custom coding and were achieved by merely configuring the database and building tables. Anyone who took the database class could do the same.

Looks like no one got it right, other than Misys was going to shed major parts of its healthcare biz.
QuadraMed picked up CPR, but what about this private equity firm? Are we seeing a significant pick-up in interest on the part of such investor groups as part off a broader roll-up strategy? Who are the other bit equity firms pursuing similar strategy?
