RelayHealth Launches FastTrack5010 at WEDI National Conference
Online information resource helps health plans prepare for new HIPAA transaction standards
ATLANTA—April 20, 2009—RelayHealth, the leading provider of healthcare connectivity services, today introduced FastTrack5010SM at this week’s 18th annual Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) National Conference. FastTrack5010 is a comprehensive online informational resource center created to help health insurers prepare for and comply with new HIPAA 5010 transaction standards.
“The January 1, 2012 deadline for implementing the new HIPAA approved Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 Version 5010 for claims and related transactions is less than 21 months away, making it critical for payors to begin preparing as soon as possible to meet the compliance date,” said Jim Bodenbender, senior vice president and general manager of RelayHealth. “With some experts estimating that the new HIPAA 5010 standards may cost health plans up to $7.7 billion to implement, RelayHealth has launched the FastTrack5010 program to help the health insurance industry make the transition as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.”
As a part of the FastTrack5010 program, RelayHealth will feature a new Web site for payors at www.fasttrack5010.com which offers a preview of a complimentary testing service expected to be available this summer. The TestTrack5010SM testing service will enable health plans to receive live claim sets to test for HIPAA 5010 compliance. The free service also provides assistance in achieving “RelayPass5010 certification” upon demonstration of their ability to meet the standard. In addition, the Web site offers topical computer-based training and interviews with industry experts.
“We believe this testing service will help payors reduce their development time by as much as 75 percent, and it should greatly reduce their chances of errors with the new regulation,” added Bodenbender. “The payor certification program also assists providers by providing standard examples and production claims to test internal systems.”
The FastTrack5010 program continues to build upon the momentum of RelayHealth’s payor direct connectivity initiative introduced in 2007, which streamlines financial transactions processed between health plans and providers, and improves opportunities for collaboration.
“Providers experienced many hardships when payors had difficulty upgrading their legacy systems and were unable to meet NPI standards in time,” said Bodenbender. “We want to do everything possible to help the industry avoid a similar situation by giving health plans access to the crucial tools to more effectively react to regulatory changes. RelayHealth’s Software as a Service (SaaS)-based connectivity services are designed to help payors comply with regulatory changes, including Version 5010 regulations.”
“It is gratifying to see long-time X12 supporter RelayHealth take a leadership role in educating, informing and assisting payors to implement Version 5010 of the X12 Healthcare transactions,” said Dan Kazzaz, chairman of ASC X12, responsible for developing and maintaining HIPAA electronic transaction standards. “This version of the HIPAA transactions is the next step in reducing healthcare costs through further standardization of electronic administrative transactions. Tools such as FastTrack5010 are always welcome because they can help insurers stay on track and use their resources more proficiently. X12 looks forward to RelayHealth’s continued leadership and contribution in helping the industry create and implement new X12 messages to continue the drive towards quality and efficiency.”
