“We are pleased to be working with EDIMS to provide comprehensive and useful drug information for elective use in the hospital ED,” said Donald M. Nielsen, M.D., president, First DataBank. “Together, we will help ED physicians and nurses make more informed and safer diagnostic and treatment decisions at the point of care.”

Accreditation ensures adherence to data processing standards and compliance with security infrastructure and integrity requirements for all e-Prescribing transactions

ATLANTA, August 23, 2010 ─ RelayHealth, a leading provider of healthcare connectivity services, announced today that it has achieved full accreditation with the e-Prescribing Accreditation Program (ePAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). EHNAC’s ePAP accreditation demonstrates the operational integrity of companies that use e-prescribing, by ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, accommodation of industry standards and proper use of relevant formats.

Through the consultative review process, EHNAC evaluated RelayHealth’s electronic prescribing and fax-based prescribing transactions in the areas of confidentiality enforcement, level-of-service and escalation procedures, outcome-related metrics, security infrastructures and the ability to comply with industry-standard data formats. The rigorous accreditation process demonstrates adherence to strict standards and participation in the comprehensive, objective evaluation of the organization’s business.

“Because e-prescribing continues to play such a critical role in the healthcare industry’s transition to electronic health records, solution providers need to ensure that their systems and processes adhere to industry standards,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “Privacy, confidentiality and security are all top concerns for these organizations, and becoming EHNAC accredited is a major step in ensuring full confidence in the integrity of a company’s e-prescribing system. We’re happy to have RelayHealth among this select group of accredited organizations.”

RelayHealth provides network and claims processing connectivity services that add value and efficiency to more than 90 percent of the nation’s retail pharmacies. The company processes more than 70 percent of all retail pharmacy prescriptions including Medicare Part D claims equivalent to nearly 11 billion pharmacy transactions annually. RelayHealth's claims editing services are performed before and after adjudication, and have saved retail pharmacies more than $2.3 billion in 2008.

“We are pleased that our electronic and fax-based prescribing transactions have passed EHNAC’s rigorous ePAP accreditation process,” said Jeff Felton, president of RelayHealth’s Pharmacy Solutions. “The accreditation is a seal of approval that underscores RelayHealth’s strong commitment to industry data standards and privacy and security of prescription data and processing.”

About EHNAC
The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) is a voluntary, self-governing standards development organization (SDO) established to develop standard criteria and accredit organizations that electronically exchange healthcare data. These entities include electronic health networks, payers, financial services firms, health information exchanges and e-prescribing solution providers. EHNAC was founded in 1993 and is a tax-exempt 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization. Guided by peer evaluation, the EHNAC accreditation process promotes quality service, innovation, cooperation and open competition in healthcare.

Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula Selects RelayHealth for Health Information Exchange

HIE’s patient-centric architecture and governance management abilities are key advantages in competitive landscape

ATLANTA, August 24, 2010 ─ RelayHealth, a leading provider of healthcare connectivity services, today announced that Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) in California has selected RelayHealth’s health information exchange (HIE) connectivity solution to improve the quality of care and safety for its patients, create closer alignment with its physicians, and address the governance issues that arise in the process of connecting healthcare communities.

“RelayHealth’s HIE solution supports a clinical integration strategy and meets many of our strategic needs. With RelayHealth, we will be able to tightly align and connect hospital and physician practices in the routing and exchange of secure patient data from different sources within our own enterprise,” said Tom McNamara, chief information officer of CHOMP. “Health information exchange through RelayHealth is patient-centric and patient messaging is integral, whereas other players in the connectivity market are provider-centric. In addition, RelayHealth manages governance and support issues through its SaaS network model, taking the headaches of running an HIE off our hands. It’s a complete service.”

The 205-bed hospital, which serves patients in the Monterey Peninsula and surrounding counties, is launching its HIE partly to improve the distribution of results and reports, demonstrate the meaningful use criteria for government electronic health record (EHR) financial incentives, and advance its plan to strengthen physician alignment in a community dominated by small, independent practices.

Following the rollout of RelayHealth’s results management solution to the medical community slated for the fall, CHOMP will add other components of the HIE network specifically for physicians, including electronic prescribing, referral management, colleague-to-colleague communication, and connected orders. Connected orders allows physicians with or without an EHR to place orders for diagnostic tests, medications, patient care and referrals electronically. For patients, the HIE will offer a menu of messaging services to communicate with their physician and the group practice staff, including personal health records (PHRs), prescription refills, appointment scheduling, delivery of lab results, and webVisit® consultations.

CHOMP’s 288 physicians will have access to RelayHealth even if they do not have an EHR system. While the hospital is offering subsidies to practices that acquire EHRs, its leaders realize that many physicians will abstain. “RelayHealth gives those practices certain clinical integration and health information exchange capabilities that otherwise wouldn’t be available,” McNamara noted. “Our desire is to help our physicians perform certain functions such as eprescribing to receive Medicare reimbursements and physician-to-physician referrals that can protect their revenue streams.”

CHOMP will also use the system to share data with the Bay Area HIE, a collection of hospitals and practices currently sharing information for the improvement of healthcare in their Northern California communities.

The hospital is based in an area where several groups are exchanging health information and several HIE vendors are active. However, CHOMP chose RelayHealth because of the nationwide network of enrolled physician users. “Monterey is a major tourist mecca,” McNamara said. “RelayHealth’s national footprint may be of service to patients who visit from other areas of the country. If their provider at home is registered on RelayHealth, a CHOMP-affiliated physician can obtain their patient’s health information, including the latest test results, clinical encounters and medications.”

“The Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula shares our vision of a nationally connected network and the opportunity to transform healthcare as we know it today,” noted Jim Bodenbender, president, RelayHealth Connectivity Solutions. “Our HIE platform, will help CHOMP and their physicians achieve a higher level of care coordination, clinical integration and patient engagement.”

About Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) offers a wide range of healthcare services at 15 locations, including the main hospital, outpatient facilities, satellite laboratories, a mental health clinic, a short-term skilled nursing facility, and Hospice of the Central Coast. Its 205-bed acute care facility, staffed by 288 physicians from every major specialty, draws patients from all across Monterey County. CHOMP is committed to healing the whole person throughout life and to offering comprehensive care designed to meet the needs of each and every patient.
Comparative Benchmarking Confirmed Productivity and Physician Focus of SRS Hybrid EMR

MONTVALE, NJ — August 9, 2010 — SRS, the leader in high-performance hybrid EMRs, today announced that Sandhills Pediatrics has selected the SRS hybrid EMR for its 14 providers. Sandhills Pediatrics has four offices in the greater Columbia, South Carolina, area and has served the community's families since 1975.

"I see 38-45 patients a day, so I wanted an EMR that would easily adapt to my workflow and not hinder the pace of my schedule," says Kevin O. Wessinger, M.D., Sandhills Pediatrics. "The SRS hybrid EMR allows me to practice the way I like, while eliminating the gross inefficiencies of a paper-centric office. Implementation was smooth—we didn't have to compromise our productivity at all, even during the first few days!"

"The stopwatch doesn't lie. During our EMR selection process, we looked at several traditional, point-and-click systems and a free online EMR," says Ken Fenchel, Practice Administrator, Sandhills Pediatrics. "We timed how long it takes to perform common workflow tasks with each EMR and realized that SRS is the easiest and fastest by far. The higher level of productivity is critical to our physicians' ability to provide quality care to our high volume of patients."

SRS was designed with direct input by its high-performance physicians to provide them with a system that fits their needs, helps them to work more efficiently, and enables them to achieve a rapid return on their investment. SRS, which has built the largest national network of high-performance practices that successfully use an EMR, attributes its unmatched adoption rate to ease of use, fast implementation, and an accelerated timeframe for training physicians and office staff.

"If more practices took the time to do comparative benchmarking, the rate of successful EMR adoptions would increase," says Evan Steele, CEO of SRSsoft. "We are confident that Sandhills—like our other pediatric practice clients—will see immediate and ongoing benefits with SRS throughout their offices, and we are very happy to have them join our growing national network of 5,000 providers."

About Sandhills Pediatrics
