Awarepoint is A Finalist in the Fourth Annual Triple Tree iAwards for Wireless Health
Awards recognize innovation, insight, impact and initiative in wireless and mobile health sectors
SAN DIEGO, Calif., April 26, 2012 –Awarepoint Corporation, the leading provider of real-time location system (RTLS) solutions for healthcare, today announced it is one of a dozen finalists for the Fourth Annual TripleTree iAwards for Wireless Health. The prestigious iAwards, which are offered in three categories by Triple Tree LLC, an independent investment banking firm, recognize companies for demonstrating innovation, insight and initiative in wireless and mobile health.
A distinguished panel of judges, including representatives from Triple Tree, Wireless Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA) and Cooley LLP, selected the 12 finalists after reviewing more than 160 applications. Awarepoint was among four finalists in the category of operational effectiveness, e.g., having the best solution for reducing costs and improving operational efficiency. The remaining eight finalists are nominated in the categories of clinical application and consumer experience. Applicants were judged based on the uniqueness of their business model, growth and traction in the marketplace, clinical/operational/consumer relevance, market size, international presence or potential, and other fundamentals.
“The iAwards provides recognition for companies like Awarepoint that are addressing healthcare problems with innovative mobile and wireless solutions,” said John Montague, vice president of Triple Tree. “We congratulate the finalists and wish them the best of luck in the final round.”
Awarepoint serves 123 healthcare systems representing 186 sites in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia that are using its aware360°Suite of solutions. The RTLS application enables clients − 46 percent of whom are recognized by US News & World Report as America’s best hospitals – to quickly improve financial, operational and other efficiencies. Awarepoint clients using the application to track mobile assets on average save $250,000 in one-time, planned equipment capital purchases; $100,000 in annual rental equipment costs; and $50,000 in annual equipment replacement costs due to loss or theft.
The system also has enabled:
• Nurses to save an average of 25 minutes per shift because they no longer have to spend time locating equipment, patients and physicians.
• Hospitals to reduce patient wait times by an average of 70%, inpatient bed turnover times to one hour, reduce operating room (OR) bed turnover times to 30 minutes, add one additional OR case per day and increase emergency department patients by one to two cases daily.
• Facilities to boost hand-hygiene compliance to nearly 100 percent, thus addressing a major cause of healthcare associated infections.
As a 2012 iAwards finalist, Awarepoint will be a featured presenter at the 7thannual WLSA Wireless Health Convergence Summit to be held May 23-24 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. The winners of each iAwards category will be announced on May 24th at the conference, which attracts leading wireless health executives, innovators, thought leaders, and investors worldwide.
“We are honored to be a finalist in TripleTree’s iAwards,” states Jay Deady, CEO of Awarepoint. “This recognition is a testament to the industry leadership, success and power of our aware360° Suite. We look forward to demonstrating our solution to the world’s premier healthcare executives at the WLSA Wireless Health Convergence Summit.”
